healthkit

UI Design
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD

healthkit is a conceptual application that addresses the issues of food waste and food deserts in underserved neighborhoods. The healthkit platform would work with local food retailers and restaurants to collect donated (perfectly consumable) “food waste” that would otherwise be discarded. The donated goods would then be repurposed into easy-to-prepare meal kits, which would be distributed for free to low-income families.

This project was based on the five stages of design thinking, as described by the Interaction Design Foundation

After researching the issues of food waste and food deserts and establishing a problem statement, the ideation stage produced many potential design directions. Several exercises were performed as a means of emulating rapid concept iteration which aimed to address the problem statement in a way that would resonate with the target user.

Ideation Exercises

Digital Wireframes

As part of the prototyping stage, several low-fidelity wireframes were created. These design solutions were based on a series of User Stories, all of which defined specific features and functionalities that would align with the target user’s wants and needs.

Typography & Color Palette

A friendly yet contemporary typeface was selected for typographic elements to aid in user navigation. Given the variation of items that appear within this design solution, a singular typeface was implemented in varying weights to ensure a sense of unity.

A vibrant triadic color palette was applied in order to emphasize an energetic sensation of freshness. Shades of green are primarily used for navigational items with saturated oranges and purples applied as secondary colors.
